Thanks to Kalidou Koulibaly’s late header in the game, Napoli managed to get the much-needed win against Serie A leaders Juventus.
The team from Naples is just a solitary point behind the Old Lady of Turin.
Juventus who have won the Serie A six times in the last six seasons, are a point ahead of Napoli, with four more games to go.
Among those four matches, Juve face Inter Milan and Roma away from home.
Napoli dominated the whole game but failed to come up with that pivotal goal until center back Koulibaly came up with a thumping header from a Jose Callejon corner in the dying minutes of the game.
The side from Turin didn’t manage to get a shot on target, though Pjanic came close to scoring when he hit the post with a deflected free-kick.
“The city fired us up over the last few days and when we see all those fans accompanying us to the airport, it makes us very happy,” said Koulibaly.
“We want to thank them and the best way of doing that was to win the game.
“Juve are a very strong side, but we proved Napoli can fight it out with them. The team has always believed in the Scudetto and will do until it’s mathematically certain.
“We believe in ourselves, in our style of football, in our players and our staff. We proved that tonight.”
It was only Juve’s third home defeat in the past five seasons.
Juve was unbeaten in domestically since November.
The side from Naples have only managed to win two Serie A titles, both with Maradon in their side, most recently in 1989-90
