Zidane resigns as Real Madrid manager

“He came, he saw, he conquered, and he left silently” – This sits apt. with Real Madrid’s taslisman Zinedine Zidane.

Winning the Champions League for the first time as a manager in his very first year of a professional European club was no small feat. Winning it on two consecutive occasions was historical. But winning it for the third time and that too in as many years, that’s a thing straight out from the fairy tales. For this is no small achievement and doing it with the club you played for, is something that will forever be echoing in the heart and mind of all the football fans, let alone the one’s supporting Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane was no ordinary player and he is no ordinary manager, for what he achieved might never be done again. Real Madrid are the undisputed champions when it comes to the Tuesday and Wednesday night football. The kings of Europe have won 4 out of the last 5 UEFA Champions League tournament. The last three they won had no major signings, the same three which Zinedine Zidane led the team as a coach. Zinedine Zidane is not any manager, the things he did in the football pitch as a player earned him respect of his team and everyone who played the game. The way he managed the big names in such a huge club, where clashing of egos is a normal thing, it’s commendable.

Yesterday when he announced his resignation from the club, the supporters and the team management and the higher authorities of the club, everyone was left in a state of shock. He just had won the title of Europe 6days back. Question marks regarding Ronaldo’s and Bale’s future were raised. But he denied anything related to that being the reason for his resignation. As a man of the club, he said that all he wanted was a change in the way the team is running. He said, it’s time for a change that he let someone else take charge at the helm of football’s biggest club. The Los Blancos loved him as a player, adored him as a manager and they will be hoping that his departure is a bad dream that comes to its conclusion soon and that they get to see him week in and week out in the sidelines,

For now, he said, this is more like a see you soon rather than a goodbye. Hopefully, we get to see him back on the sidelines soon.
