Rishi Sunak conquered winning after running for the second time. In September, Sunak lost to Liz Truss. But she resigned from the position in a short span of six weeks. Sunak’s fate made him British Prime Minister with the quick support from fellow MPs, including backing from Boris Johnson, and Truss. He crossed the 100 nominations required to win the deadline.
Rishi Sunak is the Son of Immigrants
Sunak’s parents migrated from East Africa to the UK, they both belonged to Indian origin. Sunak was born in Southampton, where his father used to serve as a GP and his mother was a pharmacist.
Sunak has done his schooling at Winchester College. He later studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Oxford and business at Stanford University in America.
Presently, Rishi Sunak is serving as the British Asian Prime Minister.

During the previous leadership race, Sunak clashed with the former PM, arguing that it is more of a fairy tale to borrow money during an inflation crisis, as it will cause impact the economy and create chaos.
For the first time, he was elected from Richmond in North Yorkshire. He rose quickly in his political journey and became finance minister in 2020, under Boris Johnson’s leadership.

Mr. Sunak contributed significantly to providing financial aid during lockdowns, such as furlough payments, and the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme for restaurants.
Sunak’s Billionaire Wife
Sunak’s wife Akshata Murty is the daughter of the Indian billionaire Narayana Murthy. Sunak has also worked for Goldman Sachs, an investment bank, and at other two hedge funds.
According to Sunday Times Rich List, the net worth of the couple is around £730 million. They are parents of two daughters.
Sunak had to face Controversy over Tax Arrangement
Akshata Murthy paid no tax to the UK due to earnings abroad, which is legal. Sunak defended his wife on this, but later she got agreed to pay extra taxes.
It has also been found that Sunak owns a green card that gives him legal permission to settle down permanently in America, while he was serving as UK chancellor.
Sunak Campaigned for Brexit
Sunak has always supported Free Ports. Free ports are areas close to ports or airports where goods can be imported or exported without paying any taxes. It thus encourages trade.
