Manchester United 1-1 AC Milan (9-8 Penalties)

It took 26 penalties to decide the winner of the match between AC Milan and Manchester United. United won the match 9-8 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Manchester United’s no.7, Alexis Sanchez scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute of the first half. AC Milan’s no.8, Suso came up with an equalizer within three minutes. These were the only two goals as the match headed straight to the penalty shootout.

Ander Herrera fired United into the lead in sudden death with his second spot-kick.

Milan’s Ivorian 21-year-old Franck Kessie was unable to convert the decisive kick.

Portuguese goalkeeper Joel Pereira, who was in the sticks in the absence of United’s no.1 David de Gea and no.2 Sergio Romero, saved from Fabio Borini and Suso then converted United’s fifth penalty.

“I will find out next week where I play next season,” said Pereira.

“I want to prove to the manager the faith he put in me is right.”
