Australian VC David Warner has been cleared to play in the 2nd test match against the Proteas but fined for misconduct.
He and South Africa’s Quinton de Kock were both charged by ICC after an episode in the 1st test in Durban.
Video film seemed to indicate Warner being restrained by his teammates amid an altercation with De Kock.
Wicketkeeper De Kock challenged his charge but at the same time was fined by the ICC.
Warner’s acknowledgment of a level two offense implied he got three demerit points and was fined 75% of his match fee – however avoided a one-Test ban which would have come with four points.
De Kock was accused of a lesser level one offense and was fined 25% of his match fee and given one demirit point.
Players who reach four negative points inside a two-year time frame are consequently given a suspension – as happened to Afghanistan wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad on Wednesday.
Australia won the first test by 118 runs. The 2nd test begins on Friday at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.
