A popular face of Indian comedy, Raju Srivastava passed away at the age of 58 years. He has been on a ventilator since August 10. Raju Srivastava remained for 41 days in a coma and was declared dead on 21 September.
Raju Srivastava collapsed when he was running on the treadmill. His health conditions did not get better even after the angioplasty procedure.
On August 10, Srivastava caught a massive cardiac arrest while running on the treadmill. It is said, that he was performing his routine when he collapsed. He was immediately admitted to AIIMS hospital in New Delhi, and on the same day, he underwent the angioplasty procedure.
Angioplasty is performed to widen the blocked or narrowed-down arteries and veins caused by arterial atherosclerosis. The angioplasty process breaks down the fatty plaque built inside the blood vessel. It is recommended for the person at risk of heart failure.
Cardiac Arrest During Workout
The health conditions of Srivastava sent shock waves and sorrow among his fans across the country. When he collapsed during the workout, numerous questions emerged about the safety of the workout. According to his cousin, he was doing the regular workout.
Cardiac attacks are most likely to occur during a workout if the person’s blocked vessels have remained undiagnosed or ignored.
Several workouts can impact electrical disturbance in the heart and may result in cardiac arrest. The strenuous exercise leads to rupturing of the fatty plaques which causes a heart attack.
The comedian has garnered huge popularity as Gajodhar Srivastava with his amazing comedy acts. Besides comedy, Raju Srivastava also had a political career. He had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha Election from Kanpur, as a candidate of the Samajwadi Party. He later joined the BJP, leaving the Samajwadi Party.
Who Was Raju Srivastava?
Raju Srivastava was born in a middle-class family in Kanpur. He learned mimicry skills at a very young age. He used to wait for school functions to perform. It was his dream career to make people laugh. He moved to Mumbai to give wings to his dream, and become a Comedian.
Raju Srivastava was noticed when he mimicked Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary actor, and his struggle ended there. He started getting numerous offers to mimic the actor on screen.
Raju Srivastava has acted in numerous films. Many of his roles were blink-and-miss in movies such as Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoo, and others.
The comedian later participated in the comedy show telecasted on Sony, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. This show was one of the first comedy television shows. This show gave directions to the career of Srivastava, making him immensely popular and touching new heights.
Raju Srivastava played the role of the Gajodhar Bhaiya, in the show. It was inspired by the character of the barber in his hometown. The comedian had a great talent for storytelling that used to amaze everyone watching his performance.
