Higuain and Dybala knock Spurs out of the UCL

Tottenham’s Champions League aspirations came smashing down as Juventus two goals inside three second-half minutes to seal the fate of their last-16 tie.

Son Heung-min’s goal six minutes before half time solidified Spurs’ situation at Wembley after they fought back from a two-goal deficit to draw the match at Turin in the first leg.

In a momentous initial 45 minutes, Son and Harry Kane had squandered possibilities for the hosts, while Juventus were denied a clear penalty when Douglas Costa was brought inside the box by Jan Vertonghen.

Tottenham seemed, by all accounts, to be in charge until Gonzalo Higuain tapped in Sami Khedira’s flick to give Juventus a 64th-minute life saver – which they heavily capitalized on and Paulo Dybala hustled clear for the decisive goal three minutes later.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side battled to restore their odds yet without any result, coming excruciatingly close in the diminishing minutes when Kane’s header hit post but bounced right on the goal line.

The London club are the first English team to be eliminated from this season’s Champions League.
