Cristiano Ronaldo beat Lionel Messi to the Ballon d’Or 2017, receiving the award at a glitzy ceremony in Paris yesterday.
France Football’s award is presented to the best player competing in Europe, and is considered one of the highest accolades an individual can achieve in the sport.
A group of 173 journalists from around the world voted on the prize this year, ranking the top 30 players and springing some surprise results.
